Youth Coalition
Mission Statement
The mission of the Global Care
Youth Coalition is three-fold:
- To encourage and inspire
youth participation and leadership in global humanitarian
service initiatives;
- To provide a way of
connecting service-minded youth from different schools
and youth service organizations;
- To offer tools and suggestions
for developing a successful global service initiative.
Initiatives
Global Care can offer tools and
resources to engage in the following initiatives:
- The Ethiopian School
Construction Initiative
This initiative will be kicked
off in November 2007. Its goal is to sponsor construction
of a Pre-K to Grade 10 school for 1,000 students in
Awassa, Ethiopia.
- The Mine Action Initiative
Global Care was involved in landmine
removal and survivor rehabilitation initiatives from
our inception in 2000 to 2004. We have developed excellent
educational resources to assist you and your students
in the development of a mine action service initiative.
Model
The Global Care model for youth
participation is simple and straightforward. Every
Youth Coalition partner will follow the following
steps:
- Register
as a Youth Coalition member and receive the Membership
Benefits;
- Identify a humanitarian problem
or area of concern either locally, nationally or
internationally;
- Research the
problem;
- Identify a
specific, concrete way of making a tangible and
constructive contribution to address your selected
problem;
- Develop a plan for
achieving your humanitarian initiative;
- Find an implementing
partner organization (if necessary);
- Develop and deliver
a youth presentation
about your selected problem to students, parents
and community members;
- Celebrate
the success of your project.
- Post your achievements
on the Global Care website;
Global Care can provide advice
for following each of these steps!
